Now to God who is able to strengthen you according to my gospel and the proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery that was kept secret for long ages but is now disclosed, and through the prophetic writings is made known to all the Gentiles, according to the command of the eternal God, to bring about the obedience of faith— to the only wise God, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever! Amen.

I get the enticing internet advertisements all the time. "Five ways for you to strengthen your faith." "10 things you can do to grow your congregation's faith." I know people have faith but I don't always recognize the Jesus that other people say that they know. Even though I believe that we can and do have different perspectives on this Jesus, certainly there are some things we should agree about? So, who is at fault? Their understanding or my proclamation? The mistake I make the most often is thinking that I know what I am doing, as if I am saying to God, "Chill out. I've got this" Then off I go, stressing about things that have little or nothing to do with anything important. AND then, I am clueless enough to ask God for strength to do battle with the things that really don't deserve that much attention or energy. In many ways, my faith is still making the same mistakes. God is able to strengthen. God is able to bring about faith. It is as if God is saying, "Chill out. I've got this."
