Mark 7:6
He said to them, “Isaiah prophesied rightly about you hypocrites, as it is written, ‘This people honors me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me; in vain do they worship me, teaching human precepts as doctrines.’ You abandon the commandment of God and hold to human tradition.”

Love. Love is the answer to the questions that matter. Love is the commandment of God. Love is the focal point. Love is the energy that creates. Love is what produces, explodes with joy, kindness, goodness all over the place. Love is a word, yes, but a word embodied, swimming in whatever there is to swim in. A living word with a tail and a tale. Love is the power to look chaos and uncertainty in the face and still find the ability to laugh, to hope, to sing.....to worship. If I could, I would pick every church building up like a snow globe, dust off its ancient glass that has blocked the light and shake the daylights out of it to set free the best pieces of it to capture the light again and splash that light into the darkened places of the cosmos. I would do it for love. God, after all, does it for us. Love floats.

Holy God, shake us up and hold us tenderly. Amen.
