Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside still waters; he restores my soul. He leads me in right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil; for you are with me; your rod and your staff— they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord my whole life long.

Natural waters are rarely ever still.  Oceans move. Rivers flow. A lake ripples.  I suppose a puddle is still but then the temptation is too great to jump in it and splatter it everywhere.  On the rare occasion, I have seen still water it is a sight to behold and it doesn't last.  A breath of wind ruffles it. And so we are left to wander. We long for a living stillness that we can't seem to find on our own or create for ourselves.  But when we are willing to be led, there is one who can still water and restore a soul.

Lead me, Lord. Amen.
