Mark 4:39-41
He woke up and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” Then the wind ceased, and there was a dead calm. He said to them, “Why are you afraid? Have you still no faith?” And they were filled with great awe and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”

The disciples of Jesus were still learning to understand Jesus' authority.  As wind rocked their boat, they had some experienced fisherman on board, but even they understood and respected the power of a storm at sea.  Mark's Gospel walks the readers through the disciples' experience of Jesus.  They went from being afraid of the power of the wind and waves to seriously questioning this person in the boat with them.  When it comes to rocking the boat, Jesus is an authority to be reckoned with.

And on that note, Lord, if you could make the storm in the Gulf sit down, I would appreciate it. Amen.
