2 Corinthians 4:13-14
But just as we have the same spirit of faith that is in accordance with scripture—“I believed, and so I spoke” —we also believe, and so we speak, because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus, and will bring us with you into his presence.

I often ask folks what they think heaven looks like. It is a "just for fun" conversation for obvious reasons. Oh, sure, the scriptures are filled with poetic language of symbol and metaphor - pearly gates, streets of gold, angel choirs, etc. Luther was a bit more pragmatic with his-tongue-in-cheek answer - he said, "If there isn't any beer in heaven, I don't want to go." I would like to petition to include dogs because I have known some are who have been more gracious than any of us have ever been. This Corinthians passage, however, is the best ever window into what we can, by faith, confidently expect. You will be there. I will be there. Bunches of folks that none of us has ever met will be there. Jesus will be there. I honestly can't imagine anything better than that.

Holy God, just to be in your presence is as much heaven as I can stand. Amen.
