John 17: 15-17
I am not asking you to take them out of the world, but I ask you to protect them from the evil one. They do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world. Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.

One of the most difficult life lessons is learning how to discern the truth and how to deal with the truth when we know it. Social media allows us to splay the pictures of our life albums on screens for friends and strangers. The albums don't tell the whole truth anymore than old albums of faded printed photographs ever did. We share the happy moments, but they are not the whole truth. Young ones who believe the albums as the whole truth, struggle in silence when their own lives don't look like everyone else's pictures. Evil exists in the lies we perpetuate especially when knowing the truth is hard and sad work. As we walk with Jesus, we are wise not to follow blindly but to listen for the truth.

Holy God, help us to listen for and believe in the truth when we hear it. Amen.
