Romans 8: 24-25 For in hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what is seen? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience. * * * * * * * * If we lived our lives by refrigerator magnet maxims, what do we do with "Look before you leap" and "He who hesitates is lost?" The scriptures have that same conflict. Go, do, love, serve, take action on the one hand. Hope, have faith, wait. The scriptures say, "Without a vision, the people perish" and "We do not know the way." We cannot bring on the Kingdom by our own will and yet sitting on our hands until then is not an appealing posture. Hope is a muscle. We should not be surprised when it hurts to stretch it. * * * * * * * Holy God, give us the wisdom and the will to flex our faith. Amen.
