John 3: 16-17
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. “Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

It is one of those ELOGOS times when the scriptures cry out to be read again....so, go ahead, read it again. I'll wait. (Start the on-hold canned music, check phone, scroll, scroll, click a link, read a message, oh.....are you finished?) I often mourn the shortening of my attention span that comes with a combination of age and a plethora of bright, shiny objects darting about in my line of sight. The fleeting thoughts and the greedy grabs for attention rarely nourish me. Something there is about the rich magnitude of the grace of God that politely requests a complete attention. It is like remembering to breathe deeply to focus on the one most vital function of our bodies. How do we live on puffs of mindless breath? We don't live. We perish in mid-step. Read the verses again. Whisper it. Breathe. Such is the nature of God's love - it is to be taken in completely and savored even as we are being saved by it.

Your spirit surrounds me and teaches me to live. Amen.
