John 13:34-35 I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another. * * * * * * * When I served in campus ministry at Texas A&M, I would ask the students at what point did they identify themselves as an Aggie. Some said at the moment they received their letter of acceptance. Some said when they went to Fish Camp and learned the traditions and the yells. Some said when they registered for class or set foot on campus for the first time. Of course, the officials from the university might have a more financially-measured definition. Jesus wanted his disciples to know, beyond any other criteria, that the only definition that matter when it comes to being known as a follower of Jesus is that they loved one another. * * * * * * * The testimony of the power of your love, oh Lord, is that as often as we fail to love, you call us again to follow you. Amen.
