A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. The crowds that went ahead of him and that followed were shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest heaven!”

For what purpose do crowds form today? I went to the opening of a presidential library because it was historic. I couldn't see anyone speaking. I couldn't even see the dignitaries in the front rows. All I could see was the crowd. All I could claim is that I was there...in the crowd....at that historic event. The crowds for Jesus spread their cloaks and branches. They went ahead of him. They shouted to announce his coming. Later the crowd turned on him. Same people? Probably. In a crowd, we are always more willing to go with the flow. It takes courage to stand alone and do the right thing.
