He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” He asked, “Who are you, Lord?” The reply came, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. But get up and enter the city, and you will be told what you are to do.”

Lyle Schaller was a great churchman, a student of the Living Body of Christ and shared his wisdom through his books and teaching seminars. I attended one of Schaller's workshops. He wore a t-shirt with a cardigan sweater. The t-shirt was printed with the words, "Always question authority." He was the resident authority and we took it as an invitation to pepper him with questions....which we did. Then he took off the sweater and the lettering on the back of the shirt read, "But when authority answers, you listen!" Saul, who would become the Apostle Paul, thought he was the authority on the right path to God. On the Damascus road, he was confront with another authority, which he questioned. Authority answered. What Saul heard was that Saul wasn't in charge and now it was time to listen to Authority. It is always good to question Authority. It is even better to listen when that Authority is Jesus.
