“You that are simple, turn in here!”
To those without sense she says,
“Come, eat of my bread
and drink of the wine I have mixed.
Lay aside immaturity, and live,
and walk in the way of insight.”

To eat the bread and drink the wine that Wisdom offers in these verses one has to embrace the name tag: "HELLO, My name is Simple." I know plenty of people who have absolutely no difficulty embracing that label because to them it means they will not be responsible, that very little will be expected of them, that no one will ask them to do anything hard. But this invitation from Wisdom is not a free pass to Couch Potato Land. It is an invitation to see the world and ourselves as they really are. It is the red pill vs. the blue pill of the movie, Matrix. Live blissfully ignorant or see the truth and respond to it within the limits of the truth of our humanity. Ignorance is bliss. If it ceases to be bliss, we find deeper depths of our senselessness to anesthetize the pain. Wisdom's invitation is not to be taken lightly. We are being invited daily into a way of life that forces us to sit down at a table and eat the truth.
