Luke 10: 36-37
Which of these three, do you think, was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of the robbers?” He said, “The one who showed him mercy.” Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”

A lawyer engages Jesus is a mental contest. He asks Jesus two questions. The first is "What must I do to inherit eternal life?" Jesus answers in summary, "Love your neighbor." The second question is "Who is my neighbor?" Jesus answers with the story of the good Samaritan and finishes with a question: "Which one was a neighbor to the man in need?" A neighbor is one who shows mercy. Jesus' point is made. A neighbor doesn't have to ask who they have to love. A neighbor just loves. No loopholes. No strings. No ifs, ands, or buts. Just love. No more questions? Good! Go love.

May we love one another as fiercely as we fight with one another. Amen.
