I Corinthians 6: 11b
But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.

If we are washed, sanctified, and justified then we can safely assume we needed such things because we are soiled, unholy and wrong. If we reject God's free laundry services, and we can't stand living with our own sufferable selfishness, then we try to be invisible. Those skilled at invisibility can do it in plain sight, sometimes, stealthily in the presence of those they love....or at least, we think we do. We don't know how to step out of the shadows and reveal our eternal sin of me-ness. What if that would be the final straw that would push all hope of love away. So we hide. We weave our cloaks of invisibility. And yet, God comes. God waits. God coaxes us into the light, into the shower, into the mystery of holiness and declares us worthy to be here. I often want to know why God works so hard to pull us out of hiding and clean us up. And the only answer we may ever get is the feeling of someone tussling our wet, clean hair and saying, "Because I love you, Silly."

Holy God, please don't stop. Amen.
