I pray that, according to the riches of his glory, he may grant that you may be strengthened in your inner being with power through his Spirit, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, as you are being rooted and grounded in love.

"How can I pray for you?" and the answer often comes, "Please pray for strength." The bottom line, and yes, there actually is a bottom line when it comes to God's purposes, is love. We often pray for strength for matters that seem only distantly related to God's purpose of love. We feel weak and ask for generic strength to meet the challenges big or small that we face personally. What we, in fact, may need is a deeper understanding of our own personal mission statement. When we understand our own purpose, strength comes to serve it. When we embrace God's purpose of love as our own, we have access to the power of the Spirit, a Savior who is always present. In other words, strength reporting for duty.
