Luke 1:78-79
By the tender mercy of our God, the dawn from on high will break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.

During the aftermath of the Paris terrorist attack, there was a phrase being used in the hunt for the conspirators. The phrase was that they had "gone dark." It means that they are no longer sending or receiving messages that might give investigators clues to their movements. As human beings, we "go dark" when we stop communicating and when we lose touch with our own humanity. Some sit in shadows and some sink into a deeper, uglier darkness. In this season of Advent, we are reminded again of our roots as children of light who are called to bear light so that those who sit in darkness can see more than death out their windows.

This little light of mine...I'm gonna' let it shine.  Amen
