Ode to A Time Alien

I know a person who frequently uses a phrase like no one I have ever known.  The phrase and the person are both like no one I have ever known.  The phrase is "...for a season."  The person lives uniquely in her own time zone.  She is ruled very reluctantly by the Roman calendar and time devices of arrogant ancient ones who sought to measure the movements of earth and sun. Dipping into obligations of employment and beloved relationships, she will nod to the day of the week, the hour of the day but it wearies her.  Left to her own devices, however, this human one, sloughs off being managed by time and date and prefers her own sense of time located somewhere between her amygdala, cat-filled lap and small intestine picking up passengers from the heart along the way.  She chooses to do what she wills that is good and true for her...." for a season."  To those on the outside looking in, she appears often late, often changing schedules, often forgetting tripled up appointments, often forgetting the day of the week. She can be annoying.   She can also be a delightful alien in time.  She moves and makes decisions for a season. It does not mean she cares less. Only that she measures her days by focus rather than increments of time.  She is a delightful alien in time from whom we earthlings might learn.  Perhaps we could consider looking at time differently....if only for a season.
