Romans 6:5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. * * * * * * * We have a tendency to think of life as linear. Our age as a plot point on a graph ever increasing on the grid until there is no grid. This life is rather more dynamic, multi-faceted and layered. It moves, indeed, but moves more like a boat - heave, sway, roll, pitch, yaw. It can be exciting. It can be nauseating. We can find ourselves being shoved closer to death or lifted up to life. Little deaths and the flashes of resurrection are the rhythm of our lives. The worst and the best of what happens to us rests in the mercy and the mystery of the one who holds the ocean in his hands. * * * * * * * Holy God, my boat is so small and these waters so big. Help me to cast my fear away. Amen.
