2 Kings 2:9 When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha, “Tell me what I may do for you, before I am taken from you.” Elisha said, “Please let me inherit a double share of your spirit.” * * * * * * I have often thought of my life and my ministry sites as if I were leaning out an open window overlooking a river with a swift current. People riding the river passed near that window. I didn't know where they came from or where they were going only that I had been given an opportunity to give them something for the journey. The urgency is to give them the best I have to offer. The Gospel is the Good News - it is the best news - it beats anything they will see on ugly billboards along the river shore. As Elijah passed the mantle to Elisha as a prophet of God, so we too are responsible for giving the story of Jesus flavored in the stew of our own stories to those who are guaranteed to be hungry for real food sometime in their lives. * * * * * * * Bless us, Lord, as we help one another along the way. Amen.
