Matthew 21:1-3
When they had come near Jerusalem and had reached Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, saying to them, “Go into the village ahead of you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her; untie them and bring them to me. If anyone says anything to you, just say this, ‘The Lord needs them.’ And he will send them immediately.”

I imagine what it must have been like to be the owner of those animals. No matter the circumstances of whether Jesus had pre-arranged for their use or if it was based solely on the words, "The Lord needs them." Nevertheless, to have and to be able to give what the Lord needs is an extraordinary event. Any bragging rights were sucked away in the knowledge that Jesus rode toward his death on those animals. As I imagine what it would be like to be needed by the Lord, it occurs to me that God actually chooses to need us all to accomplish his purposes.

Holy God, receive who I am and use me.  Amen.
