Matthew 25:21 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and trustworthy slave; you have been trustworthy in a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.’ * * * * * * * * Oh, to be seen as trustworthy by God! Trust is so fragile. It is difficult to protect it from breaking and once it does break, it is difficult to repair to its original strength. Trust is organic. It can be grown. It can be bred for strength. Trust needs seed corn to grow. We trust a little and when that goes well, we trust a little more. There are failures, of course, but in term of our relationship with God, the failures are not terminal. The failures are a place to start again. The joy of our master is a joy that we share. * * * * * * * * Holy God, we rejoice in your trust in us and in your never-failing love. Amen.
