Habakkuk 2:2-4
Then the Lord answered me and said: Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so that a runner may read it. For there is still a vision for the appointed time; it speaks of the end, and does not lie. If it seems to tarry, wait for it; it will surely come, it will not delay. Look at the proud! Their spirit is not right in them, but the righteous live by their faith.

Okay, let's say that there were two lines for employment for God's people:  One was to announce and believe that the Kingdom of God was coming.  The other was to announce and believe that the Kingdom of God in here.  Which would you prefer?  Would you prefer a life where we were constantly "waiting for it" or a life where it was already here and we were asking "now what?"  In very simplistic terms that is the difference between God's people in the Old Testament and in the New Testament.  One lives life in waiting with faithful obedience.  The other is no longer waiting, knows God through knowing Christ and is called out to love other and call others to this new reality.  Frankly, both are exhausting and frustrating.  Sometimes I would like to just sit and wait.  Other days I am anxious to go and do.  Depending on the timing, either one could be where God wants us to be.

Help us with our timing, Lord. Amen.
