Listen to me, you that pursue righteousness, you that seek the Lord. Look to the rock from which you were hewn, and to the quarry from which you were dug. Look to Abraham your father and to Sarah who bore you; for he was but one when I called him, but I blessed him and made him many.

There is the old story about the parent who thought he could keep a child occupied for a long time by chopping up a picture of the world to put together as a puzzle. The child finished the task quickly and when the parent asked how he did it, the child said, "There was a picture of a person on the back and once I put the person together, the world came easy." God is building his new
kingdom one person at a time. As we focus on our Lord and understand our roots, we are healed in our sinfulness and given the power to choose righteousness. From one person comes a story of God's faithfulness and mercy. From one cross comes God's salvation for us. From each of us comes a story so wonderful that it has the power of changing the lives of many.

Lord God, the complexity of healing our world is overwhelming. Help us to see that one person at a time, hope is contagious. In your mercy, Amen.
