Romans 4:6-8
So also David speaks of the blessedness of those to whom God reckons righteousness apart from works: “Blessed are those whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered; blessed is the one against whom the Lord will not reckon sin.”

The piece of the Sunday liturgy that people seem to clamored for the most is the part when the worship leader declares by the authority of Christ, all their sins are forgiven. It is said that we can go without food for weeks. It is said that we can go without water for a few days.  Food and water, baptism and communion, holy elements that are the delivery systems for what sustains life - the forgiveness of our sins. Forgiveness is what we need to survive and thrive as children of God. We cannot wait for those hungry for forgiveness to crawl into the church buildings. We must pack our duffles with forgiveness and take it those unable to find the door.

Holy God, help  us to be a people called out to serve. Amen.
