Hebrews 12:1
Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who for the sake of the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God.

Stress is a word I hear a lot.  I see it in people's faces.  I hear it in their voices.  I witness it chewing on their internal organs and snacking on their bones.  Some people need to retreat, rest if they can before they collapse.  Others seemed to accept it as their fate and slowly disintegrate.  There is a counter-stress option of fighting stress by meeting it head-on with the stress we choose ourselves.  It is like fighting fire with fire.  It is well known by those who exercise regularly.  Stretching and pushing the body increases circulation, builds muscle.  It is true for our bodies.  It is true for our faith. If we are stressed with worry, doubt, fear, then we are wise to stand up amidst those who have gone before us in faith.  Listen to their hope.  Listen to their faith in Christ.  And do not walk but run toward Jesus.  Renew faith by stretching it, taking it out for a walk, or even a sprint.

Let's get moving, Lord. Amen.
