Hebrews 13:8-9a
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings; for it is well for the heart to be strengthened by grace

Poet T.S. Eliot wrote of the "Still point of the turning world."  I recently spoke with a group of our learning center teachers about preferred methods of problem-solving.  It is easy to imagine ourselves as "inside-the-box" thinkers or "outside-the-box" thinkers, but the truth is that even the box changes on us and we are all having to adjust.  Our lives are not stationary but constantly in flux.  Our awareness of the changes and our ability to adjust to the currents of change makes a difference.  We do, however, get tired regularly.  To stand still is to be pounded by the surf or sucked into the undertow.  We all need a still point.  Jesus has always been, continues to be and will be forever, mine.  And the extra joy of that stillpoint is that I am never there alone - I have seen you there, haven't I.  I am sure I have. You look familiar.

Holy God, help us find home when we are carried away. Amen.
