Psalm 145:8-9
The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. The Lord is good to all, and his compassion is over all that he has made.

I have been described by some as cantankerous or a ruffler of feathers. Those who have told me this have great feather-ruffling abilities themselves, but most of us disturbers of the peace are unaware of the wake we leave behind us. I know when I reach my limits, I get dismissive and impatient. In violent world of well-armed, ill-tempered, reactionary combatants, I am a marshmellow in comparison but I can still cause pain. But I have this problem. I don't want to hurt anyone. I don't want to be angry or impatient.  I want to harness my power to ruffle feathers to be a more like the one who never reaches the limits of love.

Keep calm, and hang in there with me, Lord. Amen.
